Moschino Obsession- Review!

Well I've recently discovered the Moschino brand, and completely fell in love with them. I'd known of Moschino before hand, but I hadn't really payed much attention to them, until now, and I have to say that I am crazy to have not taken any notice of them in the past, because Moschino is a really nice brand.
The Autumn/Winter collection has recently came out and some of it is really amazing, however I do have to say that I prefer the spring/summer collection (although that might just have to do with my hatred of the winter). Everything in the collection seems to be either really simple, or really complex with distinctive patterns and there really doesn't seem to be a middle ground.
As usual, they have a lot of graphic pieces, which appeal to the younger age, (I know it appeals to me) as well as a lot of more conservative pieces, such as plain jumpers or plain blazers. One of my favourite graphic pieces from the collection, is a white jumper with a heart in the middle that looks like it's been coloured in. It is so cute!
I'm unfortunately not a fan of the colours in the collection. They are mainly dark neutrals such as different shades of grey and navy blues or blacks. I understand that it is the autumn/winter collection, but I would have still liked to see some more colour. I also feel that in the cases where there are colour, it feels very lacklustre and dull, and I really feel like the whole collection just needs a little more vibrance. Nevertheless, even if I am not a fan of the colours, the clothes the colours are on, are fantastic. There is a slight fifties feel in a lot of the pieces, which I really like and I could imagine making some really great outfits by paring some of the more extravagant pieces in the collection, with much more simple clothing items.
I love the bags in this collection! They all have a slight comical feel to them and, although I think they could be quite hard to pair with actual outfits, they are extremely adorable bags- the sort of bags that you feel yourself wanting to buy, even though you know that you're going to have a really difficult time finding things to wear the bag with.
The accessories in the collection are also gorgeous, and a lot of them have quite a glamourous-like feel to them. A lot of the accessories are statement pieces, and simplicity doesn't seem to fit into them anywhere.
All in all, I do really like the collection. I'm not a fan of the colours of a lot of the items, and some of the pieces are too normal for my liking, but overall the collection is quite extravagant and I do think that it is going to do really well.

New Shoes!

So, I went shopping on the weekend. For various reasons, (namely exams) I haven't been shopping in a while, so it was nice to be able to go look at the stores again, especially seeing as all the shops are having their summer sale right now. I mean, you can find some really great deals.

Anyhow, among other things, I bought two new pairs of shoes. The first were from Topshop and the second, from H&M. You'll probably recognise the first pair from a post I did earlier this month, talking about shoes that I wanted. Yeah. I bought them...

Dream Shoes...

I really hate exams... Although I believe, so does everybody else. Right now, it's half term in England. I have one week of break before six more weeks of school, then I break up for summer.
I'd love to spend this week relaxing because I've survived the mountain of exams I had, before half term. I want to hang out with my friends, go shopping and take advantage of my short break, before I return to school for another long six weeks. Unfortunately, I can't do any of that because I am stuck at home, revising for the second mountain of exams I have, when I return to school... Yay! (Note sarcasm).
So, basically I'm annoyed, and bored. I mean, if I ever have to hear about extracting metals and the properties of transition metals, or anything else like that, after next week, I think I might just scream. (As you may have guessed, Chemistry is not my favourite subject).
Anyhow, today I've composed a list of five shoes that I really want right now, to share with you guys and hopefully inspire you...

1. Topshop 2. Senso 3. Acne 4. Zara 5. Burberry

So these are definitely shoes that I want right now. They are all so pretty and stylish. I'm already imagining a myriad of outfits, I could wear them with!

What shoes do you want this season?

The difference between towns and cities...

I live in a town, but I've always preferred being in cities. I think it's because cities are just so much more exciting. The atmosphere, the energy and the people, make being in cities so much more interesting than being in a town- especially one as small as mine. And I do get that the advantage of living in a town like mine is the sense of community and the peacefulness of the place- no crime, no vandalism, no riots. Unfortunately, to me that just sounds dull. I like adventure and action, and as weird as it sounds, I would rather be in the middle of the hysteria, than living in a town where absolutely nothing happens.
My hometown!
However, there is one more reason that I prefer cities to towns and this is possibly the most important reason... it's the fashion...
London!
In cities, it is very easy to find fashionable people. On every street, there is at least one person with amazing fashion sense. On the other hand, I can wander round the streets of my town as much as I want, and I'll be lucky to find someone not wearing a hoody and jeans. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wearing comfortable clothes. However, I like to admire people's clothes and their fashion sense and that just doesn't happen in my town. I mean, would it be so hard to put a little effort into choosing the clothes you're going to where that day? I mean, it isn't impossible to be wearing nice clothes and be comfortable. Also, I think the worst part is that most of those people actually think that they are dressed well.
The point I am really trying to make, is that it shouldn't matter whether you live in a big city where it matters what you look like, or in a small town, where everyone is dressed just as badly as each other so it doesn't matter what you wear, people should still make an effort to dress nicely, because at the end of the day, it gives you a lot more self-confidence and it can make you feel good about yourself. Just because you can dress like a slob, doesn't mean that you should! And I am not trying to say that the clothes that you wear is all that matters, I'm trying to say that making an effort and not being lazy matters.
Anyhow, this is starting to sound more and more like a rant and I need to get back to revising, so I'm going to go now. Talk to you all again soon!

Live Parisian...

So, I know I haven't done a post in a while, however, I've been in the midst of exam chaos. In fact, I should probably be revising right now, but I wanted to write something so...
Anyway, today I want to talk to you all about Parisian fashion. Now, I've always thought that the heart of fashion is either in Paris or New York, although fashion in both of these countries is incredibly different. New York fashion is all about expressing yourself and being unique, whereas Parisian fashion is a lot more subtle. It's about looking absolutely amazing, and yet seeming like you haven't tried at all. There is no doubt that Parisian women could be considered some of the most stylish people in the world- and today I'm going to help all of you achieve their look.

1. Always make an effort. Have you ever seen a Parisian woman dressed in sweats and a hoodie? I haven't! French women will always make an effort to dress well, and if they aren't dressed well, then they will not go out in public. Walking the dog and getting the paper is still an occasion to put on a cute coat, wrap up warm in a lovely scarf and swipe on some red lipstick. To dress like a Parisian woman, you aways need to be making an impression. (Perhaps that's why my French grandma always gets so mad at me when I lounge around the house in my comfy clothes instead of properly getting dressed. Hey, don't judge! I might be French and I might be writing this article, but that doesn't mean I always have to stick to the Parisian dress code!)

2. Stick to a neutral palette, with just a pop of colour. The colour palette for Parisian women tends to stick to more neutral earthy tones such as black, brown and grey. If that's too boring for you, then spice it up by wearing purples and dark blues, or slide down to the other side of the spectrum and wear nude pinks and whites. Alternatively, add colour with bright accessories and jewellery.

3. Make a point. Contrary to popular belief, French dressing does not need to involve bankrupting yourself! Most French women will invest in a statement item, such as a handbag or a designer trench and then they will mix that with many cheaper items. That way, you can still look a million bucks, without having actually spent a million bucks.

4. Don't follow the trends. A big thing about Parisian fashion, is that it always does what everyone else doesn't expect it to do. When dressing in the style of a Parisian woman, you have to ignore the trends and dress the way you want to. So you might be in the middle of winter, but that doesn't mean you can't wear floral prints; summer's the perfect time to wear boots and it's never the wrong time of year for a good scarf.

5. Don't over-complicate your outfit. As I said before, French women always look very simply dressed. You don't necessarily need to wear anything other than some leggings, cute flats and a flowy top to look amazing, as long as you accessorise it right. Also, you must never over-accessorise! The French are very subtle in the jewellery that they use, and sometimes just a pretty bracelet will suffice.

6. A hat and sunglasses. Two accessories that are essential to any French woman's wardrobe! They don't need to be worn together, but you do need to have both of these items in your wardrobe, if you want to dress like a Parisian. Hats are a very important accessory to the French and you will often see hats that cost hundreds of euros placed behind the counter, accessible by "assistance only". Sunglasses are exactly the same. It doesn't matter whether it's sunny or not, it is always an occasion to wear your sunnies.

To end, a collection of fashionable French women...

Only the Essentials...

Everyone has those days. Those days when you find yourself needing something (e.g. a pen) and you realise that you don't actually have one on you. In reality, an item such as a pen is something that most people know that they should have on them at all times and doesn’t involve a whole lot of effort to obtain. You never know when you're going to bump into a cute guy in the street and need to give them your number!
In our day and age, we are all so busy and our lives are all so cluttered, which is a complete reflection of our handbags. Our bags will be filled to the seams with stuff that we do not need, while the items we actually need are left at home. So, I've decided to help all of you with bags that feel like they weigh a ton, by making a list of essentials for any handbag. The bare necessities. Now you guys can leave the clutter at home, and feel happy knowing that your bag is a lot more organised, and is a lot less of a weight on your shoulders.

Along with a pen,  you should always have on you:

  • Lip balm or Vaseline. The ultimate saviour for wind chapped lips, base for lipstick, emergency ‘glamour-iser’ and thing to apply when you’re bored. Also, did you know that vaseline can prevent blisters? If you're ever wearing uncomfortable shoes and you know a blister is about to form, apply some vaseline to the pained area and you can stop a blister from forming- or at very least soothe the pain a little.
  • Tissues. A sudden case of the sniffles never looks (or sounds) particularly attractive. Nor does tomato sauce all down your top, as I have learnt on many an occasion.
  • Chewing gum or mints. After eating that garlic salad for lunch, the person you work with will be thanking the heavens that you had some gum in your bag.
  • Safety pins. A little odd, I know, but necessary. There have been too many occasions, where I have been at school and the strap on my school bag has decided to snap. Safety pins are the saviour here. As are they in the awkward situation of your button popping off your shirt and revealing a little too much cleavage...
  • A mirror. I hate those days when it's incredibly windy and I've had to walk to school. I arrive knowing that my hair looks like some birds have taken residence in it, but a quick glance in the mirror, at least helps me to confirm it.
  • Hairbands. To help tame the bird's nest, mentioned above
  • Bobby Pins. Because even with your hair tied back, you're going to have some untameable strands that need an extra boost.
  • Comb, or mini hairbrush. If you've left your hairbands at home, you can always try to battle your way through the jungle that is your hair. I only suggest trying this as a last resort!
  • Your phone. Sounds a little obvious, but I felt like it deserved a mention anyway. I don't know about you guys, but I always feel really bare when I do not have my phone on me. Maybe I depend on my phone a little too much, but considering the plethora of things that you can do on your phone these days, it isn't really much of a surprise.
  • Tampons. Yes it's practical, and a little boring, but I always think that it's better to be safe than sorry.
  • One of those mini umbrellas that fold up to fit into your bag. This might not be as essential if you live in... the Sahara Desert, for example, and it hasn't rained in years. However, living in England, I have come to realise that if there is ever only one thing to leave the house with, it should be an umbrella. The amount of times that it has been sunny outside, with not one cloud in the sky, and I've left the house, only for it to start raining five minutes later, I have well and truly learnt my lesson. It's always raining in England, so I always have an umbrella on me.
  • Moisturiser. Especially important during the winter- moisturiser makes short work of tired and dull skin. At a push, a little on a tissue will also help remove makeup and in lieu of foundation it’s an instant way to make skin radiant. So forget carrying around hand cream and go for moisturiser – the do it all!
  • A nail file. Because a broken nail is really annoying and can also be really painful. Not to mention the fact, that you will probably end up breaking your tights...
  • Which brings me onto the next thing... a spare pair of tights. Because tights are always ripping at the wrong time (like on the way to a really big interview... or on the way to a date with the guy that you've been stalking for the last six months and has finally agreed to go out with you. Obviously he's taking you to a really classy restaurant- one where people with massive rips down their tights are NOT allowed in). So yeah, just don't risk it- bring a spare pair of tights with you. Oh, and if your tights aren't ripping, then the problem is that you just aren't wearing any tights! (Reference to the fake sun we have in England, which only pretends to feel warm...Grrr...) Unfortunately, blue legs aren't particularly classy either.
  •  And finally... the most important thing to carry around with you is (drum roll please...) Your wallet! Another obvious one, although it definitely deserves a mention. Your wallet is likely to hold your I.D, money, health insurance, driver's license etc. If you suddenly get kidnapped, but manage to leave in a daring escape straight out of 'Mission Impossible', it's not an umbrella that's going to get you home, (although it will be particularly useful if you are abducted to India, slap-bang in the middle of the Monsoon season) it's your wallet. So never ever, under any circumstance, leave home without it!
So there you have it. My list of handbag essentials. The survival kit for life. Whatever you want to call it, I hope it will help you to know exactly what to have in your handbag, as you go through the daily motions of life.

Anna's Accessories

Various accessories from the collection. Don't they just look spectacular?
 (Picture from  www.annadellorusso.com)
I'm sure that a lot of you on here have heard of Anna Dello Russo. Her blog is viewed by thousands of people everyday and her style is always being documented by style photographers. In the blogging world, and even out of it, she is a style icon. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that she was collaborating with H&M to bring about a special and supposedly affordable collection of accessories, which have been described as, "Unabashedly glamorous, precious and playful, the range is an expression of Dello Russo’s taste for ornamentation."
The collection hits the stores on October 4th, in the middle of the global fashion weeks tour.
I'm so excited about the release of this collection and I think that it will be very big. H&M collaborations are almost always successful and they always seem to out-do themselves, so hopefully this one will be as amazing as previous collaborations. I was slightly disappointed by the Marni for H&M collection, so I am hoping that this one will blow it out of the roof.

Are you all as excited about this collaboration as I am? Tell me your thoughts on the collection in the comments...

Christian Louboutin... shoes... have I enticed you yet?

As I'm sure a lot of you have already heard, the Christian Louboutin exhibition opened yesterday, in London. It is being held at the design Museum and celebrates the extensive twenty-year career of Louboutin. The exhibition showcases his shoes, hanging from hoola hoops attached to the ceiling and displayed on funfair carousels. There is even a three-dimensional hologram of Dita Von Teese, a loyal friend to Louboutin, as a burlesque dancer, which morphs from a stiletto to perform a dance on stage! Visitors also get a unique insight into his design process-from initial drawing to factory production.
The exhibition has been described as, "A magical journey of style, glamour, power, femininity and elegance," and looking at pictures from the exhibition, it might just be that!
The launch of the exhibition was held on the 30th April and 'the man of the moment', Christian Louboutin, was there himself, and wearing some very flamboyant red trousers. (He's obviously a man who has jumped on the bandwagon of the coloured trousers trend, this spring).
The exhibition looks like it is a lot of fun, and is a must-see for any Louboutin fans. It showcases his shoes and designs, but gives some insight into his life as well. It is already looking like it will be one of the biggest fashion exhibitions of this spring and summer, and I personally cannot wait to see it.
So, will you guys be rushing to London to see the myriad of red-soled shoes that await? Or, would you rather watch paint dry? Tell me in the comments.
