Wanting what you can't have...

I really love Fall fashion, and shopping this Autumn, has just been so much fun. Here's a list of things that I still really want.

I'm really into cool coloured or patterned jeans at the moment, especially some of the jeans they have in Zara at the moment. I recently bought these amazing camouflage print jeans from Zara, which I have been using all the time. This brings me onto the first item on my list. These exact jeans!  I'm not a fan of leopard print jeans, but when I saw these ones on the Zara website, it was love at first site. I love how the fact that they are dark blue, makes the leopard print a little more subtle, while still letting it stand out at the same time.

There are two more bottoms on my list of Autumn wants. First of all, I really want a pair of maroon jeans. I've been seeing people wearing them everywhere, and maroon is definitely the colour of this Autumn. However, I can't seem to find a pair in a shade of maroon that I like, and I've looked everywhere. Oh well, maybe it's just not meant to be (insert teary face).

Anyhow, I've also been looking for a pair of leather style trousers, but I'm having the same problem I'm having with the maroon trousers;I just can't seem to find a pair that I really like- but it's okay! Because I'm an extremely determined shopper, and I will not rest until I find the perfect pair! Feel free to leave now if I've scared you away with my slight over enthusiasm and possible signs of psychosis.

I also really want a pair of combat boots. (Maybe this pair by Steve Madden). I've wanted a good pair of combat boots since last Autumn, I just hadn't really gotten around to looking for a pair. I'm looking now, because I think that they'd be the perfect shoes to match with all the clothes I've bought for the Autumn time. I also love the versatility of the combat boot- you can wear them with shorts, dresses, jeans, anything really and they'll still fit you're outfit.

I own quite a few scarves, but one type of scarf that I do not own, is an infinity scarf. Since last year, I've been desperately wanting to buy an infinity scarf, however I kept buying normal scarves instead. Now I'm really frustrated with myself, because the time for wearing scarves has come around again, (although with English weather, it's only really been a month since we stopped wearing scarves- no joke!) and I don't have an infinity scarf to wear, even though I urgently want one!
Grr! The situation is so depressing, I might cry. Nah, that might be a little too dramatic. Lets save save my tears for the awful and terrible injustice, that is that my Starbucks are not yet selling the Pumpkin Spiced Latte. I know! I gasped in shock when I heard the news too. I was forced to  have a Caramel Frapuccino, filled with a ridiculous amount of calories and completely unhealthy (yeah, I know that the Pumpkin Spiced Latte isn't much healthier). All for a drink. Yep, the dam walls are definitely breaking.

If you are still reading this, then congratulations, you managed to make it to the end of this post without losing you're sanity! Just remember guys... YOLO!

P.S. I really hate the phrase 'Yolo'. It's just so overused. Way too mainstream for me.

Packing...

Well, this is kind of an impromptu post, and I'm still not entirely sure where I'm going with this. This post could turn out to be life-changing (pretty unlikely), or it might turn out to be a rant which is, although interesting- completely pointless (very likely). Oh well! We'll see, I guess...
When I was a kid, I used to love packing to go on holiday, because it meant that we were leaving soon and it made the holiday seem all that more real. I have memories of myself, walking around the house, dragging my little pink suitcase around with me, and pretending I was leaving right then.
Unfortunately, as I've gotten older, packing has become more of a chore. I'm still always incredibly excited before I go on holiday, but no more do I get any joy out of packing. This is probably because, as I've gotten older, packing has become more difficult. When you're little, and don't really care about your clothes, you can pretty much just pack anything because you don't really care that much about what your wearing. On the other hand, at my age, I do care about what I'm wearing. Which means that I can't just throw anything into my suitcase because I have to be bringing clothes that I actually want to wear.
On top of that, you have to make sure that you don't pack too much, which means that you need to choose clothes that are versatile and will go with many outfits. However, I'm going to be gone for a month, and a month is a long time to be wearing the same things. I'm always bored of my clothes by the time I'm coming home!
You also need to deal with the inevitable reality, that you're probably going to do some shopping while you're away, so you need to leave space in your suitcase for that. After all that, you then need to think about what the weather is going to be like. Can you really be certain that it's going to be 30 degrees celsius everyday, or is there a risk of the temperature dropping?
Then there's shoes to think about, makeup, accessories, swimsuits, toiletries and the list goes on and on and on...  And with so many things to remember, there's always the risk that you might forget something (I'm pretty good at forgetting my toothbrush) and it's just the worst feeling, when you realise that you've forgotten something you need for your holiday.
Holidays are supposed to be relaxing, but there is nothing relaxing about packing. And so, as I sit here writing this and procrastinating on my packing, I can't help help thinking that life would be so much easier if we had robots to pack for us. Of course, they'd have to be fashionable robots! and then I think of I, Robot, and that whole thought process goes out the window.

Fall Fashion Trends

It's funny thinking that we are already half way through summer. For me, it feels like summer's only just begun- probably because in England, summer has only just begun. We have sun! Sorry, I'm just so excited at the prospect of being able to go out in the sun (although that makes me sound like a vampire). I can finally bear my legs without having to wear tights! I can finally wear sunglasses and not look desperate! I can finally get some semblance of a tan... Okay, rant over. Anyhow, what I was trying to say, before I got distracted is that very soon, summer will be over and fall (or Autumn as we call it here in England) will be fast approaching. The runways have already bared their fall collections, and I'm here to tell you about some of the trends for this fall.

Gold
Gorgeous gold dress by Prabal Gurung.
The runways were filled with the colour gold. This fall, it seems that flowing gold clothing, studded with sequins, paillettes and glittered sheen is the way to go. Designers from Michael Kors to Paco Rabanne were embracing this flashy trend. Gold is definitely the colour of this fall!
Pretty structured dress from Paco Rabanne.

Beautiful dress by Jill Sander.

Wax
Unique styled coat by Fendi.
It's time to find that old pair of wet look leggings because a laminated- waxy finish to clothes and accessories is a big trend this coming fall. This trend has been spotted on the runways of designers such as Acne, Fendi and Jill Sanders

Military Style
Military style suit combo by Salvatore Ferragamo.
The military jacket is definitely popular this coming season. Designers brought a fresh and new appeal to the military style, using luxe fabrics and fitted silhouettes. Now this doesn't mean that women should start wearing cargo pants. I don't think that quite fits into any trend at any time...
Stunning coat by Burberry Prorsum.

Suit up
Beautifully bright orange suit by Prada.
Forget the statement skirt, this season it's all about the pantsuit. Whether it's a cropped and flared retro pair, or a modern layered ensemble, the suit is the trend of this fall. Suits aren't just for work anymore. This trend has been spotted in the collections of every designer, from Prada to Chanel and is definitely the trend to rock this fall.
I love the coat in this piece by Bottega Veneta.

The Renaissance Spirit
I love this top by Dolce & Gabbana.
This fall, think designs that mimic tapestries. Think, patterns with an ornate baroque swirl. Think of the free period that was the Renaissance and you will have worked out the sort of pattern and style of this fall. A more oriental twist, something with large flowers, also fits into this trend.

This dress by Giles is just amazing!

A truly elegant coat by Emporio Armani
Velvet
This clothing piece by Kenzo,
fits the velvet, military and suit trend, all into one!
Once considered the fabric of the rich, velvet is making a big comeback this fall. Velvet is beautiful and soft to the touch, so it is definitely about time that it came back into fashion. Amazing velvet pieces have been found in the collections of designers such as Gucci and Kenzo this fall.

Get to know me...

An unattractive photo of me rock climbing.
So, I've had this blog for about two months now and yet you all know very little about me. So, I decided that it was time for you all to get to know me.
My name is Kajsa and I'm fifteen years old. I'm of French nationality, although I live in England, and am half Indonesian. If I'm going to complicate things even more, I was born in Sweden, hence my name, which is Swedish. I'm fluent in both English and French and I am learning German.
Me and my friends looking pretty terrible,
on the second day of our DofE expedition.
I love fashion a lot and it is definitely one of favourite passions in life. However, I am a musician by heart and my love for music might just bypass my love of fashion. The viola is my primary instrument, although I can play a little piano, the violin if I'm trying and I am also a singer. I'm also planning to start teaching myself the guitar at some point.
An old photo of me and my best friend.
Friends! Again, it's a pretty old photo.
As well as music and fashion, my hobbies broad out into sport. I love netball, basketball, tennis, rounders, hockey and I was a gymnast for many years. I also strongly like rock climbing and hiking. At this point you're probably thinking that I just like doing everything, considering the myriad of hobbies I have. Well, I believe that there's nothing wrong with being a well-rounded person. ;) Anyhow, I live in a town in the South-East of England, about an hour's drive from London. A lot of people would consider myself lucky to live in the location that I do, because the town I live in is peaceful, there's a sense of community, and there isn't much crime. However, it's not like the town's dead, it's still quite lively. I on the other hand, really dislike living in my town. I've always just felt so much more alive in big cities, surrounded by lights and action.
Me and my friends at a netball tournament.
At school, I am just starting my final year of GCSE's. I   plan to continue on to do my A levels next year and would like to go to Uni, in the future. I would love to be able to be a musician as a career, although I realise that the likeliness of succeeding in that career path is minimal. Next, I would like to do something in the fashion industry. Although, honestly I don't know what my plans for the future are.
A picture from my trip to Italy last summer.
This peer was next to a restaurant we ate at. The view was gorgeous!
If my friends were to describe me in three words, it would probably be: determined, enthusiastic and a good friend. Okay, 'a good friend' isn't one word, but let's pretend for the sake of things that it is. Anyhow, I try and live life to the max, I'm always out-going and I try and see the good side of every situation. I could be considered overly cheerful at times, but really I'm just spreading the happiness. And that's... just about everything there is to know about me...

Moschino Obsession- Review!

Well I've recently discovered the Moschino brand, and completely fell in love with them. I'd known of Moschino before hand, but I hadn't really payed much attention to them, until now, and I have to say that I am crazy to have not taken any notice of them in the past, because Moschino is a really nice brand.
The Autumn/Winter collection has recently came out and some of it is really amazing, however I do have to say that I prefer the spring/summer collection (although that might just have to do with my hatred of the winter). Everything in the collection seems to be either really simple, or really complex with distinctive patterns and there really doesn't seem to be a middle ground.
As usual, they have a lot of graphic pieces, which appeal to the younger age, (I know it appeals to me) as well as a lot of more conservative pieces, such as plain jumpers or plain blazers. One of my favourite graphic pieces from the collection, is a white jumper with a heart in the middle that looks like it's been coloured in. It is so cute!
I'm unfortunately not a fan of the colours in the collection. They are mainly dark neutrals such as different shades of grey and navy blues or blacks. I understand that it is the autumn/winter collection, but I would have still liked to see some more colour. I also feel that in the cases where there are colour, it feels very lacklustre and dull, and I really feel like the whole collection just needs a little more vibrance. Nevertheless, even if I am not a fan of the colours, the clothes the colours are on, are fantastic. There is a slight fifties feel in a lot of the pieces, which I really like and I could imagine making some really great outfits by paring some of the more extravagant pieces in the collection, with much more simple clothing items.
I love the bags in this collection! They all have a slight comical feel to them and, although I think they could be quite hard to pair with actual outfits, they are extremely adorable bags- the sort of bags that you feel yourself wanting to buy, even though you know that you're going to have a really difficult time finding things to wear the bag with.
The accessories in the collection are also gorgeous, and a lot of them have quite a glamourous-like feel to them. A lot of the accessories are statement pieces, and simplicity doesn't seem to fit into them anywhere.
All in all, I do really like the collection. I'm not a fan of the colours of a lot of the items, and some of the pieces are too normal for my liking, but overall the collection is quite extravagant and I do think that it is going to do really well.

The High-end Low-end Game!

Having the perfect wardrobe does not means having a wardrobe filled to the brink with overly expensive designer items. The perfect wardrobe has a perfect balance between both High-end and Low-end fashion. What I am talking about, is that there are some items which it completely makes sense to invest money in. On the other hand, there are many items that it is not necessary to invest money in.

High-end Splurges

Shoes- Designer shoes are always a great investment. Having an expensive pair of shoes means that they will normally last longer, and will be more comfortable and give more support for your feet. I think that the best type of shoe to buy, is something classic, like a simple black or nude pump. Basically, something that suits everything and will never go out of style.

Picture from Christian Dior Fall 2012 fashion week
Coat / Jacket- A jacket can be worn with almost any look and can turn any look from casual to formal or vice-versa. Also, coats are something that are worn every year, and investing in a good, classic style of coat, for example a trench, will last you years to come and will never go out of style. In the winter,  your coat is often all that you will see of you're clothing, while you're outside (or at least that is the case with English weather), so you may as well have a nice coat to show off.

Classic Jewellery- A classic watch, diamond stud earrings and a simple heart necklace or bracelet from tiffany's are all pieces that can finish off any outfit, and will remain in you're wardrobe for years to come. Something as simple as a good quality watch can make you're whole outfit look a thousand bucks, even if the watch is the only expensive item that you are wearing.

Handbags- Every girl needs a handbag and for those who can afford it, a designer handbag is definitely a worthy purchase. If you were to invest in nothing else, then at least invest in a designer handbag. A good handbag made out of a good material will last you forever and as long as it is a classic style in a neutral colour such as nude or black, it will go with absolutely every outfit, and will complete absolutely every look.

Low-end Saves

T-shirts- Let's be honest with each other. Does a £100 t-shirt look any different from a £5 t-shirt? The answer is no. T-shirts are items which you can find anywhere and they will be just as nice as if you spent a lot of money on them.

Picture from the Versace for H&M
spring/summer 20012 fashion show
Statement Jewellery- Often statement jewellery will be difficult to piece with a variety of outfits and will only go with certain outfits. Also because it is making a 'statement', what classifies as 'in-style' for statement jewellery, often changes very quickly. If you look in the right shops, you can often find beautiful statement pieces, at a reasonable price, and if you buy the right ones and pair it with the right outfit, then they can look just as expensive as if you'd spent a lot on them.

Jeans-  Well this one is slightly controversial. For some people, jeans are absolutely a great investment, and if you're the sort of person who literally only wears jeans, then maybe they are. On the other hand, I find that there isn't any point in investing in jeans because cheaper jeans, in my opinion, are just as good as more expensive jeans. On the other hand, designer jeans will tend to be more comfortable and last longer.

Trends- There is no point in investing in trends, because a trend is just that- a trend, and by next season, it won't be popular anymore. Sure, some trends last a whole year, maybe even two, but trends aren't permanent, and there is no point in spending a lot of money on clothing which you will wear for one season and then have to store away in the back of you're wardrobe, and wait a decade before the trend comes back.

New Shoes!

So, I went shopping on the weekend. For various reasons, (namely exams) I haven't been shopping in a while, so it was nice to be able to go look at the stores again, especially seeing as all the shops are having their summer sale right now. I mean, you can find some really great deals.

Anyhow, among other things, I bought two new pairs of shoes. The first were from Topshop and the second, from H&M. You'll probably recognise the first pair from a post I did earlier this month, talking about shoes that I wanted. Yeah. I bought them...

Summer Fashion Trends- Neon!

One of my favourite summer trends this year, is neon. I love how vibrant and bright all the colours are, and I think that neon is definitely a versatile trend.

One way that you can wear neon, is by pairing various clothing items, which are different colours, together- colour blocking them. I'd then suggest going for more subtle accessories. In the outfit to the left, I've paired some neon shorts with a neon top. The bracelet and the bag then compliment the outfit without going too over the top.

Another way to wear neon, is to have one item of clothing as the main focus, and then have the rest of your outfit be quite plain, so that the focus stays on your neon piece. In the outfit to the right, I've made the skirt the main focal point, and then the rest of the outfit is quite plain, so that everyone's focus stays completely on the skirt, although if they were to notice the other pieces of the outfit, everything is till very cute.

If neon colours are too bright for you, and you prefer to stick to a nude palette, then another option for wearing neon, is to wear nude coloured clothes, and then have bright, neon accessories. This option is probably easier to wear, than the others. In this outfit, I've paired some simple denim shorts with a cute black peplum top. However, the accessories are then very bright. I especially love the bag and how well it goes with the bright, yellow shoes.

Well, they are my three top ways to wear neon. To finish, I'm going to post pictures of some neon items that I've found and fallen in love with recently...

Dream Shoes...

I really hate exams... Although I believe, so does everybody else. Right now, it's half term in England. I have one week of break before six more weeks of school, then I break up for summer.
I'd love to spend this week relaxing because I've survived the mountain of exams I had, before half term. I want to hang out with my friends, go shopping and take advantage of my short break, before I return to school for another long six weeks. Unfortunately, I can't do any of that because I am stuck at home, revising for the second mountain of exams I have, when I return to school... Yay! (Note sarcasm).
So, basically I'm annoyed, and bored. I mean, if I ever have to hear about extracting metals and the properties of transition metals, or anything else like that, after next week, I think I might just scream. (As you may have guessed, Chemistry is not my favourite subject).
Anyhow, today I've composed a list of five shoes that I really want right now, to share with you guys and hopefully inspire you...

1. Topshop 2. Senso 3. Acne 4. Zara 5. Burberry

So these are definitely shoes that I want right now. They are all so pretty and stylish. I'm already imagining a myriad of outfits, I could wear them with!

What shoes do you want this season?

Moi!

I took this picture at Christmas (hence the christmas wreath on my wall in the background). I thought you might all like to see what my Facebook profile picture is, so I'm posting it on here.

Songs of the Month...

So, at the end of every month, I'm going to make a countdown list of songs that I've been loving. This is my countdown for May:

10. Call me Maybe- Carly Rae Jepson. I loved this song a while ago, when it was released in the US, but it was released in the UK this month and I have definitely re-found my love for this song. It's just so catchy and up-beat. Also, the video is quite entertaining.

9. Laserlight- Jesssie J (feat. Davis Guetta). When I first heard this song, I wasn't overly impressed. It just sounded like the same old mainstream songs that everyone sings. However, after hearing it a little more often, I have to say that it's grown on me. The lyrics are simple and easy to follow, and although it definitely isn't the best work of either Jessie J or David Guetta, the song does have a certain Je ne sais quoi to it.

8. Every Little Thing- Ryan Beatty. He's a sixteen year old boy, who posts videos of himself singing on youtube. He is incredibly talented and his voice is brilliant. This song is his first original, and it is really good. The lyrics are pretty and the simple tune has you pressing the repeat button again and again.

7. Boyfriend- Justin Bieber. It's nice to see Justin experimenting with other styles, and I have to say that it works for him. I'm not a Bieber fan at all, however "Boyfriend" is really quite a good song. It gets stuck in your head and you can't help but find yourself singing along when it comes on, on the radio.

6. Picking up the Pieces- Paloma Faith. I love Paloma Faith and this song is just as amazing as I'd expect it to be. Nothing else really needs to be said...

5. Euphoria- Loreen. Well I couldn't do my favourite songs of May, without including the 2012 Eurovision single. I actually think that this song did deserve to win. It's a good dance tune and it easily gets stuck in your head. Also, Loreen's voice has a certain dream-like quality to it, which is quite entrancing.

4. Shake it Out- Florence and the Machine. I love this song! I love the lyrics, I love the melody, I love the video-  Everything! I love everything about this song.

3. Payphone- Maroon 5. Adam Levine's voice is like melted chocolate, and so's this track!

2. Both of Us- B.o.B (feat. Taylor Swift). I really liked this song, even from the first time I heard it. B.o.B and Taylor Swift is a collaboration that shouldn't work and yet actually works really well. The mix of country and rap is different to most songs, but they compliment each other really well.

1. We are Young- Fun. This song is just such a feel-good track. It makes me want to be the rebellious teen society portrays me as and it is just ssh a fun track. The lyrics are great, the tune is catchy and the video, although weird, totally works for the song. I love this track, and I'm not going to stop having it in my head for a while yet.

So that wraps up my favourite songs of May countdown. What are yours?

The difference between towns and cities...

I live in a town, but I've always preferred being in cities. I think it's because cities are just so much more exciting. The atmosphere, the energy and the people, make being in cities so much more interesting than being in a town- especially one as small as mine. And I do get that the advantage of living in a town like mine is the sense of community and the peacefulness of the place- no crime, no vandalism, no riots. Unfortunately, to me that just sounds dull. I like adventure and action, and as weird as it sounds, I would rather be in the middle of the hysteria, than living in a town where absolutely nothing happens.
My hometown!
However, there is one more reason that I prefer cities to towns and this is possibly the most important reason... it's the fashion...
London!
In cities, it is very easy to find fashionable people. On every street, there is at least one person with amazing fashion sense. On the other hand, I can wander round the streets of my town as much as I want, and I'll be lucky to find someone not wearing a hoody and jeans. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wearing comfortable clothes. However, I like to admire people's clothes and their fashion sense and that just doesn't happen in my town. I mean, would it be so hard to put a little effort into choosing the clothes you're going to where that day? I mean, it isn't impossible to be wearing nice clothes and be comfortable. Also, I think the worst part is that most of those people actually think that they are dressed well.
The point I am really trying to make, is that it shouldn't matter whether you live in a big city where it matters what you look like, or in a small town, where everyone is dressed just as badly as each other so it doesn't matter what you wear, people should still make an effort to dress nicely, because at the end of the day, it gives you a lot more self-confidence and it can make you feel good about yourself. Just because you can dress like a slob, doesn't mean that you should! And I am not trying to say that the clothes that you wear is all that matters, I'm trying to say that making an effort and not being lazy matters.
Anyhow, this is starting to sound more and more like a rant and I need to get back to revising, so I'm going to go now. Talk to you all again soon!
